Texas Liver Foundation is invested in supporting Texans in their journey towards better liver health and overall well-being. Those impacted by liver disease often face a variety of challenges finding others who share their lived experience and can offer guidance. We hope to change that with our virtual support groups.

The Holding Space | Support Circle is a monthly, recipient-only gathering for people navigating life before or after a liver transplant. This is a gentle, pressure-free space to talk about the emotional side of transplant—fear, uncertainty, changing identity, relationships, and everything that doesn’t fit neatly into medical conversations.
You are welcome to share, listen, or simply be present. Emotions are welcome, but never required.
2026 Monthly discussion topics are as follows:
January — Finding Your Footing: Emotions before and after transplant—fear, uncertainty, expectations, and the feeling that life is happening around you.
February — Identity Beyond Transplant: How transplant shapes identity.
March — The Emotional Roller Coaster: Big feelings, quiet feelings, unexpected ones. Talking about emotional highs and lows, when it feels like you’re riding them alone.
April — What You Couldn’t Say Out Loud: Creating space for thoughts, fears, and feelings that feel difficult, uncomfortable, or hard to share.
May — What You Wish People Understood: When well-meaning comments miss the mark. Sharing what life with liver disease and transplant is really like, beyond what others see. June — Changes in Relationships: How transplant can shift roles, dynamics, and expectations with partners, family, friends, and caregivers.
July — Living With “What If”: Uncertainty, hypervigilance, and learning to live with unanswered questions—especially around health, the future, and control.
August — Fear of Rejection (and Other Fears We Carry): Talking openly about rejection fear, getting sick, setbacks, and the anxiety that can surface long after the medical milestones pass.
September — Guilt and Gratitude: Holding gratitude alongside guilt, grief, and complicated emotions.
October — Listening to Your Body Again: Rebuilding trust with your body after illness and transplant and learning what your body is telling you.
November — When Support Fades: The crisis is over but the journey continues. Navigating loneliness, changing support, and long-term recovery.
December — Purpose After Transplant: Exploring the desire to give back, make meaning, and help others.

Support groups can be so beneficial to those seeking community and support and there are many reasons to join one. Here are a few reasons to consider joining ours:
“The liver is the only organ in the body that can regenerate itself. But it’s not the only thing that can regenerate – hope and community can too.“
