Hey there, all of you fabulous Ghouls and Goblins. Are you ready for a SPOOKTACULAR SWAP this Halloween? We at the Texas Liver Foundation have an idea that’s so good it’s frightening! We are dedicated to helping people take control of their health, especially when it comes to their liver, and we’ve got a fun and festive way to do it this month!

Send traditional sugary treats away on their broomsticks!

We know Halloween is usually all about the candy, and we’re not here to rain on your parade. But, have you ever thought about handing out healthier treats or non-food items to your neighborhood treat seekers? It’s a great way to spread the love without spreading the sugar!

Why Make the Swap?

Aside from being a ghoulishly good idea, it can help inspire healthier habits in our community. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to support those with liver disease who might be watching their sugar intake. Remember, a healthy liver is a happy liver!

What to swap in place of candy

  1. Mandarin Oranges: You can find large bags of these tasty fruits and they are usually pretty inexpensive.
  2. Mini Pretzel Packs: A salty treat can be just as satisfying as a sweet one!
  3. Mini Popcorn Packs: Most kiddos love popcorn and there are lots of delicious options with few additives.
  4. Stickers or Temporary Tattoos: Kids are often gaga over these, and they’re a great non-food option!
  5. Small Toys: Think bouncy balls, plastic rings, “vampire fangs,” finger skateboards, pencils, Halloween eraser tops, etc.

We were invited to a Halloween themed health fair last week at Pasadena ISD and here’s a photo of what we cooked up in our cauldron. We had kids LINED up to see what we were brewing!

Are you ready to make this Halloween healthier and more fun for everyone? Then try out our Spooktacular Swap! It’s a small change that can make a big difference in our community’s health. Plus, it’s a great way to support our Tiny Texans with liver disease or other health considerations.

Small steps like this can help change the narrative of liver disease in Texas. Together, we can make a difference!

Happy Halloween, y’all!
