As a member of the Global Liver Institute’s Liver Action Network, on July 28 the Texas Liver Foundation joins in raising our collective voices to call for more action for the people affected by hepatitis.

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver that is caused by a variety of viruses and noninfectious agents.  Because the damage caused by hepatitis is gradual, many people do not know they have this potentially life-threatening disease.

Did you know that:

  • Every 30 seconds a person somewhere in the world dies from a hepatitis related illness
  • There are 325 million people who live with hepatitis worldwide, including hundreds of thousands of Texans
  • 1.1 million lives are lost each year globally as a result of hepatitis B & C related illness
